(And Why It’s Basically a Therapy Session With Action Figures)
Some people keep tools in their lunchbox. Some keep leftovers.
Me? I keep action figures.
Not just for nostalgia. Not even just because I love the look and feel of them.
I keep them because they remind me who I am—and who I need to be.
The container is a vintage Superman lunchbox, because of course it is. What better symbol to house your soul’s Avengers team than the Man of Steel himself?
And what’s inside?
The Crew That Keeps Me Grounded, Inspired, and Occasionally Amused
- Mr. T – For power that serves the people.
- ALF – For laughter that breaks the tension.
- Optimus Prime & Megatron (Bag Clips) – Because every story needs a hero… and a worthy villain.
- 1989 Batman – To honor the dark corners of the mind where the real ideas live.
- Jase Robertson – To keep me anchored in faith and plainspoken truth.
- Logan (Mego-style) – Because some days you need to be the guy who survives what would break others.
Why I Keep Them Close
These aren’t toys. They’re icons.
Reminders that creativity is made of paradox and play, grit and grace, story and struggle.
I don’t carry these because I’m stuck in the past.
I carry them because they’ve traveled with me through every season of becoming.
They’re proof that even when things feel chaotic, I still have a council of warriors, weirdos, and wild cards packed up and ready to ride.
And that, my friends, is something I’ll never outgrow.
