DAY 35 — ALIEN ENCOUNTERS

The universe is offensively large.
That’s what gets me. Billions of stars, ridiculous distances and one little planet where we sit outside at night asking whether anybody else is home.
Alien-encounter stories range from intriguing observations to obvious nonsense with an enormous gray area between. Strange lights become craft. Missing time becomes abduction. Government secrecy fills whatever gaps remain.
I don’t need to pretend every light is extraterrestrial to enjoy the biggest question underneath all of it: are we alone?
If the answer is no, I hope whoever eventually visits has a sense of humor. They’re going to need one after reading the internet.
