DAY 39 — GHOST CHILDREN

Ghost stories involving children hit differently.
A child is supposed to represent beginnings, not endings. Put a small figure at the end of an empty hallway and the image immediately feels wrong before anything supernatural even happens.
Folklore is full of mysterious children: voices, footsteps, apparitions and stories tied to old schools, homes and hospitals. Some tales grow from real tragedies; others are inventions polished by repetition.
Either way, I think the power comes from that contradiction. Innocence belongs in daylight, noise and motion. A silent child-shaped figure where nobody should be is the negative image of all three.
Simple. Sad. And extremely effective.
