DAY 65 — COLLECTOR’S VAULT

Collectors understand something everybody else eventually learns: objects aren’t always about objects.
A mask can be twenty dollars of latex and also the Halloween you wore it. A toy monster can be molded plastic and also Saturday morning at age nine. A battered decoration can be objectively worthless and personally priceless.
I’ve spent enough of my life around toys and collectibles to know the danger of confusing owning with living. Stuff can become clutter just as easily as treasure.
The good stuff earns its shelf by connecting you to a story, person, idea or part of yourself worth keeping nearby.
That’s my collector’s test these days. Not “What’s it worth?” but “Why do I care?”
