DAY 67 — MONSTER MAKERS

Before the monster scares anybody, somebody has to make the damn thing.
Sculptors, makeup artists, mask makers, costume builders, prop fabricators and effects people turn an idea into something that occupies physical space.
I’ve always loved that bridge between imagination and object. It’s the same thrill I get from toys: somebody saw something in their head, then solved enough little problems to let the rest of us hold it.
Monster making is art, engineering and illusion sharing a workbench.
So today the applause goes to the hands behind the claws, teeth, wounds, masks and creatures. The monster gets the poster. The maker gave it a face.
