There are certain things that get into your bloodstream before you ever even know who you are. For me, two of those things were KISS and Michael Jackson.
Not just the music—though that lit the fire.
Not just the look—though that drew me in like a moth to a spotlight.
But the strategy. The myth. The total creative control.
As far back as I can remember, I wasn’t just watching or listening—I was studying. Even before I had a name for it, I knew that something about these artists was different. They weren’t just performers. They were architects of their own universes. And whether they knew it or not, they were mentoring me for the kind of life and career I’d be building decades later.
🎭 KISS: The Power of Persona
KISS didn’t ask to be liked.
They walked into the room and declared who they were.
Demon. Starchild. Spaceman. Catman.
They took archetypes and turned them into action figures.
They made branding cool before most people even knew what branding was.
And they didn’t stop at the stage. They built a marketing empire.
Comic books. Lunchboxes. Halloween costumes. A full product ecosystem built around a rock show.
It wasn’t just about selling music. It was about selling entry into a world.
Looking at what I’m building now with Eerie Entertainment and Embracing the Spark, I see that influence clear as day. The ghost logo. Maxwell Marx. The walk cycles. The planned merch. The retro stylings. I’m not just releasing content—I’m inviting people to live inside a creative universe with me.
Just like KISS did.
🧤 Michael Jackson: The Art of Iconography
Then there’s Michael.
The moonwalker. The dreamer. The haunted king with a crown made of sequins and smoke.
Where KISS was a four-part brand machine, MJ was a singular mythos—equal parts spectacle and soul. Every move, every look, every sound had meaning. The glove. The armband. The lean. The silence. The scream.
He turned the Super Bowl into a religious experience.
He made music videos into cinema.
He didn’t just put on a show. He altered pop culture’s gravitational pull.
That level of commitment—to vision, to execution, to being the message—left an imprint on me that I’m only now fully embracing.
I don’t want to “make stuff.” I want to build moments.
To live symbolically.
To remind people what happens when you say yes to the spark inside you and commit to becoming a legend on your own terms.
💥 What It All Means for Me Now
I’m not chasing stardom.
I’m chasing significance.
And significance means building something that lasts—not just for me, but for others. Something that inspires people to wake up and ask: “What would my life look like if I went all in?”
That’s what KISS did. That’s what Michael did. That’s what I’m doing now.
Maxwell Marx is my masked man.
The ghost is my logo of initiation.
This blog, this radio station, this novel—they’re all pieces of a larger mythos.
And it all started with some face paint…
And a single, sparkling glove.
