DAY 21 — FULL MOON

The moon has been framed for a remarkable number of crimes.

Werewolves, madness, strange behavior, sleepless nights, emergency rooms—you name it, somebody has blamed the full moon. Science doesn’t support many of the claims people confidently attach to it, but folklore has never required peer review.

I understand the instinct. A full moon changes the landscape. It turns night into something halfway between dark and daylight, throws long shadows and makes an ordinary field look like a movie set.

Maybe we don’t need the moon to actually cause monsters. Maybe it’s enough that for thousands of years it has given us the perfect light to imagine them by.
