Working promise: Use problem-first thinking to develop one practical community, business or media idea.
Same structure, your subject. This workshop teaches a repeatable method. The person attending owns the topic, decisions and results. Smartphone first, laptop/desktop compatible. Nothing on this page is a mandatory assignment or approved public offer.
How to use this scratch pad
Instructor: demonstrate the method with one short example, then let participants work on subjects of their own choosing. AI is an assistant, not the author of the participant’s identity. Pause regularly for human judgment, questions, revision and verification.
Step 1: Name the Human Need
Pick a genuine need rather than starting with technology or content.

Help me state the problem a specific group of people experiences. Ask for evidence and distinguish observation from assumption.
Copy the prompt into your own preferred AI assistant. This is a draft; test before any live class.
Jim’s check: Ask what the participant chose, why, and what needs improvement before continuing.
Step 2: Map a Practical Response
Identify solutions people already use and gaps worth exploring.

List current ways this problem may be addressed, then help me judge which can realistically be explored with my skills and resources. Do not imply market demand without evidence.

Jim’s check: Ask what the participant chose, why, and what needs improvement before continuing.
Step 3: Tell the Story
Sketch a useful story, workshop or media format around the problem.

Interview me to build a one-paragraph concept that explains who it serves, why it matters and what the audience gains. Keep claims grounded.

Jim’s check: Ask what the participant chose, why, and what needs improvement before continuing.
Step 4: Consider Partners
Identify categories of aligned hosts or sponsors without conflating sponsorship with endorsement.
AI conversation starter — tap to expand
Help me map potential host or sponsor types, conflicts of interest, and what independent value the audience should receive. Do not invent specific partners.

Step 5: Test, Don’t Launch
Choose a small real-world test.
AI conversation starter — tap to expand
Propose a low-cost validation step and a way to tell whether the idea deserves more work.
Copy the prompt into your own preferred AI assistant. This is a draft; test before any live class.
Jim’s check: Ask what the participant chose, why, and what needs improvement before continuing.
Participant finish line
A one-page problem, audience, concept and validation outline—not a finished business proposal.
Facilitator’s role
Jim leads the story, challenges flimsy premises, and decides which ideas deserve development.
Production notes (working)
Record clean instructor demonstrations separately. Capture participant testimonials and identifiable footage only with clear permission. Keep a facilitator run of show, participant companion, and post-class revision notes as distinct assets. No ticket or admission charge is proposed: optional voluntary contributions and separately sponsored or booked sessions remain the model.
Status: Scratch pad only. AI First Contact remains the active workshop launch priority.
