Free / A quick place to start

The Spark Snapshot.

You do not need to know what you want to become. Start by noticing what you naturally do.

Pick a familiar behavior below. Open its little experiment. You can try more than one.

What sounds like you?

Follow a small clue.

World Builder

I invent settings, systems, lore, rules or timelines.

Give me something to try

Invent a place that doesn’t exist. Draw three locations and give the place one very strange rule.

Storyteller

I naturally turn events and memories into stories.

Give me something to try

Give an ordinary object a problem and write its six-sentence adventure.

Maker

I understand ideas better after building or testing something.

Give me something to try

Build a tiny version of an idea using paper, cardboard or whatever is within reach.

Performer

I enjoy voice, character, humor or presentation.

Give me something to try

Record a thirty-second announcement for an imaginary event. Give the announcer a questionable personality.

Investigator

Questions pull me into rabbit holes.

Give me something to try

Choose something ordinary nearby. Write three questions about it and investigate one.

Curator

I enjoy finding, sorting, preserving or displaying meaningful things.

Give me something to try

Gather five objects around a theme. Name your tiny exhibition and write its first label.

Remixer

I immediately imagine how things could be modified or combined.

Give me something to try

Combine two familiar things into one ridiculous invention. Sketch it and give it a name.

Guide

I naturally explain useful things I learn.

Give me something to try

Explain a small thing you know with three sketches or a one-minute voice memo.

That’s enough to start.

Choose something you already own and give the idea a few minutes. You can make the smallest version, change your mind halfway through or discover that another kind of play suits you better.
